Digital Meridian Imaging, Laser Acupuncture and Auriculotherapy

We are now offering no needle acupuncture using laser and electrical stimulated treatments to enhance your health without the use of needle punctures. The treatment tends to be faster and with the addition of Digital Meridian Imaging we can provide the patient with a graphical image and explanation of the diagnosis and treatment.

What is Digital Meridian Imaging™ (DMI)?

DMI is the process of measuring the electrical resistance of acupuncture points and placing the results in mathematical algorithms based on Oriental Medicine theory to produce diagnostic graphs and charts. The DMI concept is based on the concurrent and independent measurement discoveries of acupuncture points by Japanese doctors Yoshio Nakatani and Kobei Akabane and German doctor Reinhold Voll in the early 1950s.

Dr. Nakatani refined his procedures to encompass both diagnosis and treatment. Diagnosis was performed with an electrical instrument that measured electrical conductivity of the skin. By measuring the conductivity of each meridian, energetic excesses and deficiencies could be located and charted. Treatment consisted of stimulating specific acupuncture points to either “tonify” a deficient meridian, or “sedate” an excessive meridian. An additional set of acupuncture points was used to balance meridians that showed significant energetic differences between the right and left sides of the body. These imbalances, referred to as “split” meridians, were treated with a set of acupuncture points called “Luo” points in Chinese acupuncture.

Laser Acupuncture and Auriculotherapy

Laserpuncture (laser acupuncture, photopuncture, laser acu-therapy) is the application of therapeutic laser to acupoints on the body, ear, or hand. It is a simple, effective, non-invasive approach that has been shown to be a dependable pain management tool.

Auriculotherapy can be effectively used with therapeutic laser. Auriculotherapy, also known as auricular therapy, is a form of alternative medicine based on the idea that the ear is a microsystem, meaning that the entire body is represented on the auricle, and that the entire body can be treated by stimulation of the surface of the ear exclusively. Auriculotherapy considers the ear to be a localized reflex system connected to the central nervous system (whereas ear acupuncture focuses on empirical acupoints known for their specific functions.
