Why Kettlebells?

Destin elementary trackKettlebells are my primary exercise tool of choice and I have many reasons why.  The primary reason is results.  I have tried many different workout routines and tools and I have never gotten quicker, more effective results than when using kettlebells.  Kettlebells have improved my flexibility, mobility, cardiovascular health and strength, all in one small neatly packed cast iron package.

I am currently in a phase of my life where time is a valuable commodity.  When I was a much younger man, I could spend up to two hours in the gym per day without making significant gains.  I would strut around the gym like a rooster checking out the hens in the Physique Sports section and chasing the all important bench press.  With the travel time to and from the gym, it was a significant time investment.  Today, I practice my kettlebell lifting at home, spending approximately 20-30 minutes 3 times a week and getting a higher quality workout than I have ever experienced before.  I spend less than two hours a week working out and am arguably in the best shape of my life at 53 years old.

My wife and I recently completed the Strongfirst Level 1 kettlebell certification with hopes to integrate kettlebell training and methods to our chiropractic practice.  Patients always ask what exercises they can do to help strengthen the weak areas of their body that is currently giving them problems.  Kettlebell training can lay a foundation of strength in order to have the ability to compete or participate in any activity regardless of a person’s past injuries or condition.

In the coming months we will be posting more articles on strength and conditioning to help rehabilitate old injuries and conditions in order to help enhance your quality of life.
